Vadim Melik-Karamov was born in 1957 in Baku, Azerbaijan, a state of the former Soviet Union. In 1983, Vadim graduated from the Azerbijan Civil Engineering Institute with a degree in architecture. In 1986, he was presented a special award from the Union of Architects of the Soviet Union. In 1988, Vadim was awarded first prize for the Best Project of the Year for his design of an airport terminal that could process 50 passengers per hour. He has also designed projects such as the elite Baku wedding palace, high schools, and several hotels. From 1989 to 1991, Vadim was the proprietor of his own architectural firm. Designs included showrooms in a sales academy, an entertainment center at Moscow University, and the remodeling of several private residences in the greater Moscow area. In 1992, Vadim immigrated to the United States and settled in California where he worked for several architectural firms in the San Francisco Bay Area designing projects such as the Saratoga Country Club in Saratoga and the Stanford School of Management at Stanford University. Since 2004 Vadim has worked independently designing custom homes and modernizations for existing homes. |
